Completed Container Conversion - Grenada

In 2011, I took a used shipping container and turned it into a workspace away from my home that I could use to write and connect with my thoughts. It was a fun project that tested my creativity and my willingness to be bold and go outside of the box. After about three weeks of working on the container reno project, it was all done and ready for use.
Somewhere along the line, I decided to spend a weekend there. That turned into three years! I got so comfortable I just stayed. Over the years I have received many questions from persons curious about container dwelling and this year, I decided it would be a great idea to share my space with others. Let them try it out first hand. The Corten Cottage can be used as a writer's retreat and can also be enjoyed by persons who are passionate about environmental issues, recycling and going green, It's also a great place for eco-enthusiasts and pretty much anyone wanting a place to relax, recharge and rejuvenate.
The cottage being built from a shipping container is not the only eco-friendly feature. Our rain water system is used for flushing toilets, scrubbing and cleaning the exterior of the premises and watering the plants, herbs and veggies. Our herb and veggie garden is available to all our guest.
If you have ever toyed with the idea of living in a shipping container, I invite you to try the cottage for a week to see if it is really your thing.
